History – The Old Farmhouse Inn

A country inn located in the foothills of Stokes County, North Carolina

The farmhouse was built prior to 1854. It was originally a four room log house. The house was purchased in 1951 by the Mabe family and though it has been renovated it still has its country charm. The Inn offers a rare opportunity to escape the busy and stressful life of city living and return back to a slower time and place. The inn is the home place of Arnold Mabe, the innkeeper who likes to share stories of growing up on a farm.

The Inn has the original hand hewed logs exposed to transport its visitors back into time. The Farmhouse Inn is furnished with antiques and family heirlooms.  There are many unique tools and utensils that were used by farm families in the early 1900’s.  On display around the grounds you will be able to examine many pieces of farm equipment used in the 1930’s and 1940’s.

Enjoy sitting on the enclosed sun porch watching deer, wild turkeys, and several species of birds or just relax on the large front porch and soak up the sun while reading your favorite book.
